Bird Feeders in January

Aidan, Sarah and Mya here from Ms Lynch’s class.
Our class were busy making bird feeders from recyclable materials this month. Some children from our class brought in some old milk bottles and oil bottles.
First we cut out holes in the side of the bottle just big enough for the small birds.
Next cut out some smaller holes under the bigger ones, we put bamboo sticks through these so that the birds would have somewhere to sit.
After this we poured some bird seed into the bottom of the bottle. Next we tied some string to the top of the bottle and we hung them out in the garden.

We hope the birds enjoy these delicious seeds.

Hyacinth Bulbs Update

Hyacinth Update

When we got back from our Christmas break we took our hyacinths out of the cupboard. We placed them on the window sill. We noticed that they had grown a lot. The roots had grown over 37cm and the shoots had grown 5cm. Within a few days the shoots changed colour from white to green. The sunlight helped to do this. Plants need food, water and sunlight to grow.
Here are some photos of how our hyacinths look now.
