6th Class Growing Experiments

On the 2nd of June our class created an experiment to find out about the veins of plants. These are called xylem.

We put our celery in a glass with water and blue food colouring.
Then we left it for 24 hours and we observed the changes in the celery

We found that the celery went blue at the top.
This shows how plants get their water from the roots to the top of the leaves.

Our Tinfoil Experiment

We also did an experiment about how leaves make their food.

We covered part of a leaf with tinfoil.

We predict that half the leaf won't be green. We predict that the leaf might turn white, brown, grey or yellow. We'll let you know!

Goodbye for now!
